Maths Educational Trip to Jaipur

The Mathematics Department of Ramjas School, Pusa Road organized a one night , two days educational tour to Jaipur - the Pink City of India from 26 th -27th November 2023 for the students of classes 9-12.The trip aimed at inculcating an appreciation for Mathematics in a fun way and to instill the joy of learning.On reaching the Pink City, the students were taken to Jantar Mantar, an observatory in the heart of the city .At Jantar Mantar, the students were made aware of both the historical aspect and scientific importance of the monument as a tool for accurate measurement of time , predicting eclipses and tracking star locations.The students observed all the four Yantras, calculated the correct time of the day on basis of the shadow cast on the quadrant of the circle that lay on either side of the gnomon (sundial) which is 90 feet high and angles at 27 degrees ie Jaipur 's latitude using the Samrat Yantra.
